Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. Skiing and riding in Boston's backyard
This kid is starting to get pretty good.
Wachusett Mountain Ski Area is one of the larger Massachusetts ski mountains located right in central part of the Bay State Mass and is real easy to get to from anywhere in the Boston area, and let's get it staight it is not Mt Wachusett.
My older son has actually been going there every Wednesday the last couple of years on after school group outings and is in bed by 10:30.
If you will be skiing Massachusetts for a day trip or just don't feel like traveling up North this mountain is a very good choice.
It doesn't have anything too radical like some of the ski areas further North and you will not be blown away by the mountain stats
or trail map however you will like how well maintain the trails are.
If you and your friends are looking for something to do on a Friday night in winter, get your ski or riding gear together and take a cruise up Route 2 and grab a few adult beverages and some runs. If you are not of age just grab some runs.

Don't expect what you would from the huge ski mountains but definitely an option without the travel.
Lift tickets are reasonable especially for not having to drive 3 hours.
A great policy that doesn't exist at most ski mountains is the ability to "sell out".
They limit how many tickets they sell to help reduce traffic jams on the slopes.
The mountain has also focused a lot of energy the last few years to become one of the most environmentally friendly ski areas not only in New England but in the entire
United States.
