Sugarloaf Maine. Huge Mountain skiing is the mark of Sugarloaf Ski Resort

Sugarloaf Snow pile with my gaper buddy on top of it.

Huge snow pile Sugarloaf

Sugarloaf Ski Resort. Can you say Oh Yeaahhh! Not just one of my favorite Maine ski resorts but one of my favorite places to ski in New England.

If you can handle the drive (not really easy to get to from anywhere), you will love it. Directions to Sugarloaf Ski Resort.

Whether you want to learn to ski or hit some serious steeps the "The Loaf" will not disappoint.

I like how this mountain is laid out. You can ski different sections of the mountain all day but in the end most of the trails funnel to one general area so people in large groups can break up and ski their own abilities and still find each other at the bottom.

I just wish that they could somehow get a lift up the left side of the mountain to the summit! I bet I am not alone with this thought. The terrain on the top on the left (skiers right) is unbelievable. A powder day here is a dream come true. Check out the mountain stats

One of my family's best ski vacations was at this enormous mountain. I remember my younger son riding on the "Moose Caboose" to his lessons. At the end of one of the days, we skied back to our condo in the dark. My boys were thrilled.

Sugarloaf has the highest single mountain vertical drop in the northeast at 2820. Unlike some of the other areas that boast large verticals but the number comes from the base of an area to a peak a mile or 2 away, this is continuous.

Get ready for some HUGE mountain skiing and check out the lodging options and prices. and go ahead and book your Loaf vacation this winter.

There are terrain parks for all abilities as well as a superpipe and a minipipe.

Individual lift ticket prices aren't the lowest you will find in New England but they are included in a lot of ski and stay packages and absolutely well worth it.

The Loaf gets good rankings in most magazines' ski resort reviews for terrain, but gets knocked for accessibility. I personally don't put a whole lot of weight on readers polls as it seems to me that a lot of the responders like crowded mountains. I would rank the Loaf higher than I have seen it in some publications. Once you get there you won't want to leave.
