My most recent trip to stratton mountain was January 14, 2011. I tend to head North from where I live but I got an X2 pass for Christmas so I had to go check it out.
Plus I hadn't been there in years, prior to Intrawest buying the property.
Of all the southern Vermont ski resorts this mountain gets the most high rankings in many of the ski resort reviews that get published each year.
Varied terrain makes the mountain a good place if you have a group of people at different skiing and riding levels. I like the fact that there are greens coming from the top of the mountain so newer adventurers can experience some vertical. Take a look at the trail map
and mountain stats and see for yourself.
One thing that stands out is that the area has its own village at the base. You can park your car and forget about it if you want. Everything you need is right there. I suggest you be smart and don't rely on the village for price purposes if you know what I mean.
There are tons of lodging options. You can blow a ton of cash or find something for a discount ski vacation. Your choice.

Lift tickets are priced on the high side with the other mega resorts in Vermont and deservedly get away with it.
The skiing conditions are as good as anywhere else as the staff pride themselves on their grooming and snowmaking ability which were absolutely neccessary on my recent day there due to lack of recent snowfall, frigid temps and high winds. Southern Vermont can also be "the Jackpot" for many storms depending upon the track.
