Mt Abram Ski Area offers a more family like atmosphere than some of the larger resortsMt Abram Ski Area is not in the same category as the Maine Mega-resorts but it is much bigger than a backyard ski area. 1150 foot vertical is not too bad. The folks at this mountain are very smart hopefully their insurance company agrees. They now allow skiers and riders to go anywhere within the ski area boundaries. Just think of all the places you might be able to sneak into the trees. Lift ticket prices are much lower than the larger resorts so with the new terrain you need to think about a day at this midsized Maine ski resort. You can also tube at the resort and they do have night skiing. Another plus for this mountain is that the layout does a good job separating skiers and riders by ability as you can see from this trail map On mountain lodging is available and there are a few off mountain places to stay nearby as well. The mountain is not that far from Sunday river so if you are going there you may want to try a day at Mount Abram. It is a little bit of a trek from anywhere south of Portland but not as bad as the resorts further north. This is another one of those resorts that I would be at all the time if it wasn't so far for me.Other Maine ski resorts |
