Maine ski resorts. Some Gems in the crown of the U.S.A.Get up already Oldman!
Maine ski resorts come in all sizes for all abilities. You have the most well known ski mountains, Sugarloaf and Sunday river, but if you look deeper you will discover many more choices for places to get some turns. It has been a couple years since I have skied anywhere in this state. The last time was at Sunday River on a company outing. It was a cold hardpack kind of day (after staying up real late). The conditions made us wake up big time and of course we made the best of it. The time before that, I was at Sugarloaf ski resort in a foot of freshie. Whether you are looking for discount ski vacations or want to go high end it does not matter. At least one of the Maine ski resorts will have what your are looking for. The skiing conditions in this great state can be unbelievable. You can find all types of skiing from beginner to extreme, Xcountry, whatever it may be. The prices at some of the smaller ski areas cannot be beat. The drive can be quite long from most major metro areas. Everytime I have made the trek, it has been worth it. Many of the mountains are great for families and have very little crowds. The smaller crowds are a result of the longer drive which in my book is not a bad thing especially because many of the resorts offer great value. Use the links below to check out each of the Maine ski areas. |
