Balsams Wilderness: The most northern NH Ski Resort

Light snow falling in birch trees. This makes me want to be skiing. NOW!

Balsams Wilderness and Black are the only northern NH ski resorts I need to still cross off my list. I will be doing that in the near future.

Dixville Notch is way up there in NH. You can't get much further North anywhere else in the continental US.

Without personal experience I am limited on detail for this area but I can tell you from looking at the trail map that it looks like a great place to learn to ski. I find that mountains which funnel into one major base are the most suitable when trying to find a place for the family especially if there are little ones.

I'm sure this mountain isn't going to keep the bumps and steeps addicts very entertained for too long but you if you are a casual skier you will be pleased.

I am going to guess that crowds are not a huge problem at this resort due to its location well beyond most of the resorts to the South. If you are considering heading up to this area, here are the directions to Balsams Wilderness.

The 09/10 lift ticket prices have not been published on their site but I will provide the link as soon as I see it available. 08/09 prices were about half of some of the larger New England ski areas. I don't know about you but I am a huge fan of low ticket prices.
